DIGITAL CRAFTSMANSHIP IN LINE WITH TRADITION

Founded in 2017 by Roberto Beltrami, Wave Murano Glass is a family business which follows the rich glassmaking heritage of the Island.

Operating from an historic 1850 building our team of 15 skilled glass craftspeople passionately pursue innovative solutions in glass production. Wave Murano holds membership in the Regional certification Vetro Artistico di Murano® (code: 096), ensuring the origin and production exclusivity on the island.

Devoted to preserving Murano’s millenary tradition while embracing contemporary technology, Wave Murano Glass collaborates with renowned global luxury brands, producing tableware, sculptures, and design objects. The glassblowing workshop is open to the public daily, offering a transparent view into the craft, fostering creativity and understanding. The key activity is facilitating the vision of contemporary designers to create objects in glass.

Dedicated to sustainability and innovation, the 2-ton glass melting furnace and smaller pot furnaces are all equipped with a groundbreaking waste heat recuperation system. Our furnaces are also compliant with all Italian laws regarding industry 4.0. This environmentally conscious approach sets Wave apart, making it one the few Murano factories taking significant strides toward sustaining the industry and reducing its impact on the environment.

Wave’s versatility and expertise positions it to tailor a variety of solutions for our clients. Our internships and residency programs underscore our commitment to collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation.

The Master

ROBERTO BELTRAMI

30 years old and a childhood dream: to become an inventor! In school, Roberto was passionate about physics and was obsessed about learning and understanding how the world around him works with first principle thinking.

He grew up between Italy and United states, and wherever he lived he felt like crafting was the thing that gave him the most joy and that working with his hands was his true passion.

Murano glass is deeply tied to ancient knowledge, passed down through centuries. It has the appeal of fire and the power to shape an elusive material into works of art.

And Roberto fell in love with it.

He decided to dedicate his life to glass, while pursuing a new way to shape glass and become a Glass Master:

Respecting the values of this ancient craft through passion, scientific method, and technology.

Roberto is the youngest Glass Master in Murano, and with his young passionate team, he crafts bespoke artisanal glass objects in his workshop, Wave Murano Glass.

He doesn’t have any family ties in Murano, but he managed to gain the skills of the great glass Masters in a relatively short time.

Like all glassblowers in Murano, he has a great deal of respect for tradition and he’s not a rebel, but he tries to push the boundaries of what it means to be a craftsman.

Wave Murano Glass makes glass according to the island’s centuries old tradition, but add the most valuable tool that Murano’s been missing for a long time: the enthusiasm of young minds to experiment new paths.

Roberto loves keeping his hands busy, but he’s also aware to be a son of the digital age. With this in mind he came up with new processes and techniques in a craft that has been still for centuries.

“The value of young people is to have and open mind unencumbered by preconceptions”

With this belief, Roberto quickly became an innovator and a reference point in the Muranese glassmaking tradition.
