DIGITAL CRAFTSMANSHIP IN LINE WITH TRADITION

Wave Murano Glass was born in January 2017 from Roberto Beltrami’s passion for glass. We are based on the island of Murano (Venice), the place where the world-reknown art of blown glass started and grew since ancient times.

Our company is based in an old building that dates back to 1850 with a factory footprint of 1500m2. We run 5 glass melting furnaces that burn 24/7, 11 months per year, at and average temperature of 1150°C.

Our team is made up with 10 of the best and most talented glass craftsmen on the island of Murano.

In our short business history we established collaborations to some of the biggest luxury brands in the world of furniture and lighting. Our innovative approach to glassmaking turned us into the go-to workshop for bespoke and artistic glass production on behalf of artists. designers and architects.

The scientific background of Roberto, young glass master and founder of wave murano glass, is the engine behind all innovative solutions that we develop for our clients.

The Master

ROBERTO BELTRAMI

30 years old and a childhood dream: to become an inventor! In school, Roberto was passionate about physics and was obsessed about learning and understanding how the world around him works with first principle thinking.

He grew up between Italy and United states, and wherever he lived he felt like crafting was the thing that gave him the most joy and that working with his hands was his true passion.

Murano glass is deeply tied to ancient knowledge, passed down through centuries. It has the appeal of fire and the power to shape an elusive material into works of art.

And Roberto fell in love with it.

He decided to dedicate his life to glass, while pursuing a new way to shape glass and become a Glass Master:

Respecting the values of this ancient craft through passion, scientific method, and technology.

Roberto is the youngest glass master in Murano, and with his young passionate team, he crafts bespoke artisanal glass objects in his workshop, Wave Murano Glass.

He doesn’t have any family ties in Murano, but he managed to gain the skills of the great glass Masters in a relatively short time.

Like all glassblowers in Murano, he has a great deal of respect for tradition and he’s not a rebel, but he tries to push the boundaries of what it means to be a craftsman.

Wave Murano Glass makes glass according to the island’s centuries old tradition, but add the most valuable tool that Murano’s been missing for a long time: the enthusiasm of young minds to experiment new paths.

Roberto loves keeping his hands busy, but he’s also aware to be a son of the digital age. With this in mind he came up with new processes and techniques in a craft that has been still for centuries.

“The value of young people is to have and open mind uncumbered by preconceptions”

With this belief, Roberto quickly became an innovator and a reference point in the Muranese glassmaking tradition.
